About Us

About Us

Zinvara Medicentre is the flagship program of African Initiative for Health and Research Promotion (AIHRP)

We exist to address the three major conditions: Awarenesspenia, Pharmacomania and Counselopenic Disorder.

We do not see these as abstract terms but as barriers that have touched the lives of thousands around us. By naming them, we shine a light on the struggles and declare our commitment to heal them, restore health, and dignity to victims of conflict and low-income individuals

Awarenesspenia

The lack of awareness about disease prevention and healthy living.

Pharmacomania

Compulsive use of medicines without prescription due to limited access to affordable healthcare.

Counselopenic Disorder

The absence of psychosocial support for trauma survivors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Zinvara serves internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, and vulnerable host communities in and around Yaoundé, Cameroon — including populations affected by the Anglophone crisis, the Boko Haram insurgency, and displacement from the Central African Republic.

The clinic offers free consultations, a 20% discount on basic diagnostics and medications, malaria testing and treatment, non-communicable disease screening (hypertension, diabetes), mental health/psychosocial support, and referrals for follow-up care. Beneficiaries can also register in Zinvara’s pro bono health system for ongoing, tracked care.

You can register through Zinvara’s patient registration system, either by visiting the walk-in clinic in Chefferie Mbankolo (Entrée Source, Maison Blanche, Yaoundé) or during one of Zinvara’s community outreach events. Registration connects you to continuous, affordable care rather than one-off treatment.

Zinvara is funded through individual and family contributions, patient registration fees, and in-kind donations. Since the team currently operates largely on a volunteer basis, financial support, in-kind donations (medical equipment, furniture, supplies), and volunteering are all valuable ways to contribute.
